Province unveils budget
Loan remission, new scholarship not enough: students 2000-03-02
Clouds of uncertainty still surround post-secondary funding coming from the 2000/01 Alberta provincial budget, but opposition and student leaders are clear on one thing: it's not enough.
The budget, announced Thurs., Feb. 24, sees $1.1 billion go to post-secondary education, which, according to the province, represents a nine per cent increase from last year. Of the $1.1 billion, $858 million will go to base operating costs of the 26 publicly-funded post-secondary institutions in Alberta. More...

Wrestling women capture second CIAU title

The warriors of the University of Calgary came away from a hard fought battle with both triumph and defeat last weekend.
The University of Western Ontario saw the Dinos awarded another women's team title while the men were denied glory a the Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union Wrestling Championships. The women's team title started a two-year streak that is sure to continue well into the future. More...

White: I had a breakfast meeting [today] at 7:30 a.m. at the Petroleum Club. To students that work all night that probably sounds early enough, but by the time you get up and drive down there... I got up at about quarter to six. As I say, I was at the Petroleum Club meeting with a potential donor.
