The University of Calgary chalked up a converted touchdown of all-stars as seven Dinos were deemed exceptional in their respective sports.

Linebacker Agustin Barrenechea and the Medicine Hat High School product, defensive end Dan Federkeil, both had outstanding seasons. Barrenechea was a standout on all counts this season, registering 54 tackles, four sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery. In high school, Federkeil was known more for hitting on the ladies than hitting his opponents--no really he was. However, he made up for his past pimping ways with a strong showing this season, raking in 27 solo tackles, one sack and a blocked field goal for good measure.

Meanwhile, veteran noseguard Mike MacDonald was named Canada West's nominee for the Russ Jackson Award for academics, athletics and citizenship.

The cross-country team ran away with Canada West honours as well. Heather Sim was named Canada West Rookie of the Year, powered by three top-ten finishes this season. Shannon Slater was also impressive, besting her competition as Canada West Runner of the Year.

Not to be left out, field hockey players Claire Linton and Liz Allen were also dubbed all-stars. Linton, a midfielder, was named to the CIS first team, scoring a team-leading nine goals over the season, finishing an impressive third in Canada West scoring. Allan, a defender, was selected to the CIS second team due to her consistently solid two-way play.

And what about women's soccer? We can't forget those killer kickers. Megan Dourado perfectly rounds out our lucky seven. No luck was involved here, however, only powerful performances and pretty plays.
