SU By-Election 2026: Schulich candidate Faisal Al-Taie

SU By-Election 2026: Schulich candidate Faisal Al-Taie
Because the Candidate did not come in for their interview, the Gauntlet deemed your candidate: MISSING IN ACTION.

Faisal Al-Taie is a newcomer to the SU Election. Despite this, Al-Taie has worked with multiple students, learnt about the issues that are impacting students and will use that information to run for the Faculty Representative role and represent the students who are part of the Schulich School of Engineering.

Al-Taie’s platform has four pillars.

The first pillar of his platform is about wanting to improve students’ ability to access study and project spaces. Spaces and bookable rooms are limited and not everyone is able to use the rooms for their projects and meetings. The second pillar is anchored by clear communication around funding and student resources and being able to communicate how students can apply for grants and funding. Al-Taie also wants to create better communication between students and the Engineering Student Centre to aid in their administrative issues in an efficient manner. Finally, Al-Taie wants to improve representation for students pursuing minor degrees or specialized programs and help them with other administrative problems.

The Gauntlet reached out to Al-Taie to speak about his platform but he was unable to arrange an interview.

All undergraduate students can vote through their my.ucalgary.ca Student Centre from 9 a.m. on Oct. 6 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 8. Visit the SU website to read all candidate platforms.
