Truth

The Gauntlet treats our readers as fairly and openly as possible. Whatever the medium, we tell our audiences the complete, unvarnished truth as best we can learn it. Seeking and telling the truth is the Gauntlet’s highest priority.

Fairness

The Gauntlet strives to report without fear or favour and to treat readers, sources, advertisers and others fairly and openly, and to be seen to be doing so.

Integrity

The Gauntlet upholds the complete integrity of the organization. Our reputation rests upon these perceptions, as do the professional reputations of our editorial staff. Meaning that the journalism we practice daily must be beyond reproach.

Responsibility

The Gauntlet is responsible to its readers, staff, advertisers, and University of Calgary undergraduate students. But the operation of a news organization is, above all, a public trust, no less binding because it is not formally conferred. Our overriding responsibility is to the democratic society.

Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors (BOD) is responsible for overseeing and ensuring that members of the society abide by the Gauntlet’s policies, procedures, bylaws, and operating agreement, and ensuring longevity of the society's responsibilities.

Volunteers

As the University of Calgary does not offer a journalism program, the Gauntlet acts as the home and training ground for contributors, through training, and volunteer opportunities for undergraduate students interested in digital and print media.
