A new school year brings a fresh lineup of sports events and the Dinos are hosting plenty this year. Whether you are an avid sports fan or someone just looking for events to attend, these are the Dinos events you can't miss.
KICKOFF - Sept. 4, 2026
Kickoff has always been the best way to start the Dinos season and the school year. This year the Dinos football team will take on the University of British Columbia (UBC) Thunderbirds. The game brings students, alumni and fans together, starting off with a tailgate. You can march into McMahon Stadium to kick off the school year with Dinos football!
PACK THE JACK - Jan. 15, 2027
Nothing compares to the energy inside of a packed Jack Simpson Gym. Pack the Jack is one of the Dinos basketball teams’ biggest events, encouraging students to fill the stands and cheer on both the women's and men's teams. The cheering crowds, intense competition and school pride make it an event you won't want to miss. This is one of the best ways to support our Dinos, don’t forget to grab your tickets!
CROWCHILD CLASSIC - Jan. 29, 2027
One of Calgary’s biggest university sports events returns for its 13th consecutive year. The men’s and women’s Dinos hockey teams face off against the Mount Royal University (MRU) Cougars. With bragging rights on the line and the atmosphere electric, Crowchild Classic is one of the most anticipated events of the school year. Last year Crowchild Classic 2026 broke the record for most fans in attendance, proving the clash only gets bigger. If you love passionate fans, intense rivalry and tons of school spirit then make sure to mark this one on your calendar.
U SPORTS CURLING CHAMPIONSHIP - Feb. 22-26, 2027
This year, the University of Calgary will welcome the nation’s top university curling teams as it hosts the U SPORTS Curling Championship. It is a unique opportunity to watch one of Canada’s greatest sports while supporting our own university athletes. Even if you are new to curling, this event is an exciting opportunity to learn the game and experience it up close.
CANADA WEST CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Dinos are hosting two major Canada West Championships this year, bringing some of the best athletes in Canada to Calgary.
Cross Country Championship - Oct. 31, 2027
Wrestling Championship - Feb. 12-13, 2027
Hosting these events gives fans a chance to cheer on our best athletes in multiple sports. So whether you’re cheering on our fastest runners or our skilled wrestlers or both, these championships are a great way to show your support for the Dinos and your team spirit.
Dinos All-Access Pass
Luckily, if you’re a full-time student at UCalgary, your admission is free for select Dinos events with the UCalgary Dinos All-Access Pass, which can be accessed through their website. These events include regular season home games for football, soccer, hockey, volleyball and basketball. This pass excludes the Crowchild Classic event and the U SPORTS playoff events.
