Photo Recap: Folk Fest Friday
By Miranda Krogstad, July 23 2016 —
For the second day of the 2016 Calgary Folk Music Festival, we hit the Mainstage and caught up with blues rocker Cécile Doo-Kingué and husband-wife duo Whitehorse.
The only thing more passionate than Doo-Kingué’s funky Hendrix-esque guitar solos was the audience’s standing ovation for her music.
If you’re bummed you missed out, fear not —Doo-Kingué plays again Saturday at 12:55 p.m. on Stage 3, and Sunday at 12:40 p.m. and 3:20 p.m. on Stage 1 and Stage 5.
Husband and wife Melissa McClelland and Luc Ducet of Whitehorse lean in for another stunning harmony on Mainstage Friday night.
McClelland adds piano to the loop, one of the many instruments the talented duo layers in their music.
McClelland bids the audience goodnight after a roaring standing ovation. After such a thrilling Friday, Saturday’s lineup is sure to bring even more amazing musical moments.
