The Drama Undergraduate Society continues to create a positive theatre community at U of C
By Hannah Caparino, September 30 2025—
The Drama Undergraduate Society (DUS) is a club that has the main goal of promoting a safe space that allows students to participate in a variety of student-led shows, workshops and more to form a stronger community.
Some of the most important aspects of the club is sharing information about student work, especially with festivals like ALCHEMY which features student driven projects. During the 2024-2025 season, the festival featured interdisciplinary shows like “But What is Natural” and included drama, music and dance performances.
ALCHEMY is a great example of how the DUS can welcome all students into the theatre community by showcasing work that was created both by students and for the students.
The DUS also includes news about upcoming shows that allows students to participate, watch and produce. An integral component of their club is having a strong social presence, with their Instagram account providing students with updates from the executive team and highlighting ongoing events.
The club holds events to build up the community of individuals who are interested in the theatre community at the University of Calgary. There are ice breaker opportunities and welcome parties that would include a variety of activities to form a larger network that students can utilize throughout their time at the U of C.
To contact the DUS, information can be found on the SU Clubs website or can be reached through their Instagram page.
