Top Netflix holiday movies for 2019

By Haskirat Grewal, November 29 2019 —

I love the holiday season. It is the best time to gather with friends and family to watch some awesome holiday movies. Almost everyone I’ve talked to has Netflix, which offers hundreds of different movies to choose from. My favourite holiday movie growing up was How the Grinch Stole Christmas and I still watch it every holiday season! Nothing beats watching holiday movies with some hot chocolate and treats! Keep reading to see the top holiday movies on Netflix for 2019.

A Christmas Prince:

A Christmas Prince has three installments: A Christmas Prince, A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding and A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby. A Christmas Prince is a love story between a young journalist and a dashing prince. The stars of the movie are Rose McIver and Ben Lamb. This movie series is perfect for those who want to feel some holiday magic and romance all while sitting in the comfort of your own home! I love romance movies, so this movie series is a must-see for this holiday season.

Holiday in the Wild:

Holiday in the Wild is quite different from other romantic comedies as it takes place in Africa. A newly-single woman travels to Africa for an adventure of a lifetime. The stars of the movie are Kristin Davis and Rob Lowe. I recently watched this movie and absolutely loved the storyline and setting. This movie was about much more than just romance, but also about issues surrounding poaching, preservation of wildlife and always remembering who you are.

Let it Snow:

“Let it Snow” is a teen romance movie with multiple storylines interconnected. The stars of the movie are: Isabela Merced, Shameik Moore, Kiernan Shipka, Odeya Rush, Liv Hewson, Mitchell Hope, Jacob Batalona and Joan Cusack. This movie is based on the book called, “Let It Snow: Three Holiday Romances” written by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle. I hope to watch the movie right after I finish the book. Overall, the movie has gotten great reviews and is a must-watch for those who crave the nostalgia of high-school romance and young love. I think we can all relate to many of the scenarios laid out in the movie.

The Knight Before Christmas:

The Knight Before Christmas just arrived on Netflix and stars Vanessa Hudgens, Josh Whitehouse and Emmanuelle Chriqui. This Christmas comedy is a great fit for those craving some fairy tale aspects in a holiday movie. I haven’t watched it yet, but it is on top of my list! The story revolves around a young woman unlucky in love who chances upon a “real” knight in shining armour. If you enjoyed The Princess Switch, then you will love this movie too!

The Princess Switch:

The Princess Switch is another cute holiday movie that is loved by all audiences. This movie stars Vanessa Hudgens, Sam Palladio and Nick Sagar. It revolves around two identical looking women who swap places and they each fall in love with each other’s beaus. This idea of two identical-looking people running into each other and then swapping places comes from a book by Mark Twain called The Prince and the Pauper. This is another movie on top of my list for the holiday season!
